Racing star Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship on thrilling adventures in Cars 2, traveling overseas to compete in the very first World Grand Prix to determine the fastest car in the world. But the road to the championship is full of potholes, detours, and hilarious surprises—especially when Mater finds himself caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
The Tessendorf Ocean Generator is based on physical simulation algorithms that model ocean wave behavior using Fourier transforms to represent the wave spectrum over large surfaces. Each point on the water’s surface calculates wave height, direction, and speed according to physical parameters such as wind, current, and turbulence. The system also incorporates simplified collisions with animated objects (cars, boats, hulls), allowing water surfaces to react realistically to interactions without compromising simulation stability.
To achieve believable and dynamic rippling waves, the Tessendorf Ocean Generator was used—a system developed to simulate ocean surfaces based on physical models. This tool allowed large bodies of water with realistic waves to be generated quickly, without manual animation, enhancing the realism of the scenes and ensuring consistency with the interactions of cars and boats with the water.
